Fellowships and bursaries

SC-HASS will be offering a limited number of travel bursaries to participate in the 2023 SC-HASS conference in Lisbon. Bursaries may be granted to cover part or all of the travel costs associated with participating in the conference. If you wish to apply, please send an application as either a Word or a PDF file to antarctic.hass@gmail.com including the following information:

Name, institutional affiliation, and contact email.
Brief CV (max one page).
A one paragraph statement explaining why you are seeking the bursary, and how it will benefit you.
A brief budget covering the amount you are seeking.
The title of the session within the conference program to which you are applying (if applicable).

Bursaries will be awarded based on a combination of need and scholarly merit and may be granted to cover all or part of the antecipated costs. Successfull applicants will normally book their own travel and then receive reimbursement directly from SCAR up to the sum specified in the bursary award. Membership of SC-HASS is not a pre-requisite for applying.

The deadline for applying is 28 February. Successfull applicants will be notifed within two weeks of this date. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

Accomodation

The Local Organizing Committe as made an agreement with the VIP Hotels Group (www.viphotels.com) and has secured 20 hotel rooms at a reduced rate for conference participants at VIP Inn Berna (visit hotel web site here).

10 Executive rooms (Single 103,00 eur; Double 110,00 eur) + Breakfast.
10 Standard rooms (Single 93,00 eur; Double 100,00 eur) + Breakfast.

Reservations made until April 30th 2023.

Booking payment is made in full once doing the reservation.

Cancelation policy

First night is not refundable.
Cancellation until May 8th 2023 the hotel refunds everything excetp first night.
Cancellation after May 8th the hotel will do no refund.

Participants interested in staying at VIP Inn Berna should email the conference secretariat (schass23@ulusofona.pt) asking for the discount code before booking the hotel in order to benefit from the special offer.

We are currently working on other alternatives within the city and nearby the conference venue.

How to get here

The conference venue (Universidade Lusófona’s campus, see google maps by clicking the link Campo Grande 376) is strategically located in the city center, and is easily accessed by:

Airplance (Humberto Delgado Airport, Lisbon).
City Bus (735; 767).
Metro (Campo Grande – Green line; or Cidade Universitária – Yellow line).
Train (Entrecampos station; Roma-Areeiro station).
